Mr. Frank "Sarge" Griffin Obituary
Frank "Sarge" Griffin, age 67, passed away October 24, 2012 at his home after a long illness. He was born March 10, 1945 in Sanford, Maine. Frank worked for ten years for General Dynamics and then retired from Mark IV Automotive as a Quality Control Auditor after 18 years of employment. Frank was a Navy and Army veteran of the Vietnam war and was honored for saving two lives while in the service. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1794, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 and a member of American Legion Post 4, all in the Mount Clemens area. Frank was loyal and generous to family and close friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, collecting sports memorabilia, and writing letters. He was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia (Simpson) Abate and Susan (Simpson) Butsicaris. Frank is survived by his wife Sherry (nee VanHollenbeck); brother Maurice "Marty" Griffin; brothers Richard and Timothy Simpson; and his mother Irene Simpson. Visitation Saturday 3 - 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m. until time of service 6 p.m. at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, 36900 Schoenherr at Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd). Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery with full military honors. Contributions may be addressed to the Chapter 154 VVA Christmas Fund.
