Obituary Condolences

CROOKS, LINDESAY MARGARET Age 72, born July 9, 1941 and died August 8, 2013, after living with an extreme form of Parkinson's Disease. She was the daughter of Nancibel Thorburn and Harry Means Crooks, Jr.; grand-daughter of Mary Alice Scott and Alexander Thorburn, of Ruth Elliott and Harry Means Crooks; sister to Barbara Frances Crooks Kilbourn and Elliott Thorburn Crooks; aunt to Jed Scott Kilbourn, Alison Elliott Kilbourn and Elizabeth Wales Crooks; great-aunt to Teo Ray Kilbourn-Neal. She leaves a well connected and beloved family of cousins - throughout North America, Hawaii and Japan, England and Scotland. Lindesay was born in Highland Park (Detroit), Michigan, graduated with honors from Grosse Pointe High School, received her B.A. from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and completed her M.Ed. from Michigan State University. She taught English and History with the board of education of Royal Oak, Michigan. In 1998 she moved to Hood River, Oregon, where she was an active participant in the Hood River community: singing in her church choir, contributing her expertise and energy to the Tax Aide program, the Friends of the Library and to the Hood River County Education Foundation. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Community Church in Hood River and is delayed until Saturday, October 12th to allow family members to gather then to say one last goodbye to a beloved sister, aunt and cousin.
