William E. Baker Obituary
William E. Baker, age 92, of Chesterfield, passed away Friday morning at McLaren- Macomb, Mount Clemens. He was born January 18, 1920 to Sam and Ellen (Dykes) Baker in Pruden, Tennesse. On August 1, 1945, William was united in marriage with Juanita Jones in St. Louis, Missouri. The couple settled in Saxton, Kentucky, moved to Michigan in 1948 and settled in Chesterfield in 1960. Mr. Baker was employed for 22 years as a millwright at Ford Motor Company. He retired in 1985. William served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was awarded 3 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening and doing yard work. Surviving is his wife, Juanita; son, Bill Baker of Colorado; daughters, Shari (Chuck) Irwin of New Haven and Janice (Gordon) Donnelly of Yale; grandchildren, Angela Quinn, Gordon Donnelly and Joseph Mroz; great-grandchildren, Blake and Brady; brother, Tom Baker, and sisters, Carole Huddleston and Dot Pass. Mr. Baker was predeceased by a grandson, Billy Baker, and brothers, Ed and Vick Baker. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 5 - 9 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. memorial service, at Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot, Mount Clemens.
