Mr. James D. "Jim" King Obituary
James D. "Jim" King age 77, of Homosassa, Fla. passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was born August 4, 1935 in Hickman, Kentucky to Cleo B. and Hazel (Ray) King. He was a retired Police Sergeant for the Mount Clemens Police Department in Mount Clemens, Mich. After his retirement, he moved to Eddyville, Kentucky where he owned and operated a local motel and restaurant. He then moved back to Mount Clemens, Mich. before his moving to Homosassa, Fla. in 1997. He was a United States Army veteran, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #187 in Mt Clemens, Mich., and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Homosassa, Fla. He was preceded in death by a son, Cameron King, in 1979; a granddaughter, Andrea Kay LeFan in 2006 and a sister, Sue Curry, in 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean Boyer King, of Homosassa, Fla.; one son, Bradford J. King (Mary Jane) of Harrison Township, Mich.; two daughters, Jamie King (Dennis LeFan) and Tracy Bennett (Eddie) from Marion, Kentucky. He is also survived by five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his loving canine companion, Jilly-bean. In Kentucky, family and friends enjoyed a celebration of his life at the home of Eddie and Tracy Bennett. In Mount Clemens, Mich., there will be a grave side service on October 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery. Following the service, please join the family for a time of remembrance at Mangan's Irish Hut. Old police and "Clem" storytelling is encouraged!! In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations may be made in Jim's name to The Andrea Kay LeFan True Artist Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Fredonia Valley Bank, P.O. Box 625, Eddyville, KY 42038.
