Mr. John P. McPartlin Obituary
John P. McPartlin, age 93, passed away May 22, 2012. A native of International Falls, Minnesota, edited weekly newspapers in Macomb and Wayne Counties since 1962. He had many years experience as editor of other commercial newspapers both in Michigan and in Minnesota and was a writer-correspondent for the United Press in Minnesota. He retired from the military, including service in both the Army and the Air Force, a veteran of World War II, serving overseas during WWII and Korea. An award-winning writer, photographer and editor, his service-edited newspapers won four national awards; and, in Michigan, his papers have won 11 Michigan Press Association awards, including two personal column awards. His writing credits also include 17 awards for prize-winning short stories and essays, publication of one volume of humorous verse (A Bay Hello), publication of light verse and epigrams in national magazines, and a dozen unpublished songs with lyrics. He resided in New Baltimore, Oxford and Metamora, MI. Beloved husband of the late Helena Ann; loving father of Mary (Robert) Stowers Sr., Francis, and John (Mary); dear grandfather of Christopher Lee and Michael Lee Hudson, Kevin Michael and Brian John and seven great-grandchildren. Predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Instate 11 a.m. until time of Liturgy at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 25 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market St. Mt. Clemens. Visitation 2-9 p.m. Thursday, May 24, with a 7 p.m. rosary at Gendernalik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Road, New Baltimore.
