MARY KATHLEEN DARDEN Obituary
DARDEN,MARY KATHLEEN Mary was born into Eternal Life on August 11, 2013 in Troy, Michigan under the loving care of the staff of the Angel of Albania. Mary resided in Chesterfield, Michigan. She was a partner and real estate broker at George Furton Realty in Chesterfield, Michigan for over 40 years. Mary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on July 27, 1923 to the late Herbert and Isabel Atkins. She was the eldest sibling of the late Jack (Marge) and the late Charles (Betty). She is survived by her beloved sister, Anita Schatz of Florida. After immigrating from Canada, the family resided in Roseville, Michigan. In addition to her sister, Mary is survived by her daughters, Karen Lutz of Texas, Kristine Sawkin (Pat DeBruce) of Macomb, Janis LaRue of Oregon and Denise Walker of Mt. Clemens. Mary's daughters blessed her with several grandchildren, Weslee (Katherine) Mainzinger, Wendee (Larry) Salinger, Heather (Shane) Easterling, Melissa (Michael) Robertson, Jennifer (Brian) Carpenter, Chad (Jessie) Walker, Katelyn Walker and Kevin Walker. She is the great-grandmother of Mackenzy and Maverick McClelland, Simon and Andrew Robertson, Garrett, Gavin and Gibson Carpenter and soon to arrive Baby George Thomas Walker. Mary held the love of her life, the late George Furton in her heart until the moment of their reunion. She and George traveled throughout the states by car and in their airplane. Both George and Mary were licensed pilots. They enjoyed their participation in many social and civic activities of the Chesterfield area. Mary shared a loving friendship with their office manager, the late Edna Hart, her caregiver, Sharon Tumminello and her cat, Princess Grace Kelly. Mary's memorial service will be held at the Village of East Harbor Chapel located at 33875 Kiely Drive in Chesterfield, Michigan on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Angelina Gojka, Angel of Albania, 2420 West Square Lake Road, Troy, Michigan 48098. The family extends their loving appreciation of the Staff of the Village of East Harbor, Angel of Albania and Gentiva Hospice for their tender and loving care of Mary. Patricia Gendernalik of Gendernalik Funeral Home and Chaplain Pat DeBruce have been entrusted with Mary's final wishes.
