Obituary Condolences

Roy W. Bade, age 92, peacefully entered Heaven's Gates on Saturday, February 23, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 22, 1920 on the Bade Farm in New Haven, to William and Esther (nee Schulz). Roy graduated from New Haven High School in 1938 and married, Betty Woodruff in 1939. Betty preceded him in death in 1991. He is survived by his only child, William (Dorothy) of New Baltimore. Two grandsons, William (Jeanne) and Tim (Heather). He leaves wonderful memories to his six loving great-grandchildren, Addison, Kathryn, Emily, Max, Spencer and Grace. He leaves behind his longtime companion, Edith Leiter. Roy was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for over 60 years. During World War II he worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant. He supervised the building of New Haven High School located on Gratiot Avenue; Martin Luther King School in Mount Clemens; the Youth Building of the Congregational Church, as well as numerous others. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of New Baltimore where he served on the board, tended to keeping things in good repair and worked with his fellow parishioners making pasties. He was a Life Member of the New Baltimore Civic Club; The New Baltimore Goodfellows where for over 40 years, Roy sold papers on the corner of Main Street and Washington, in the last years he worked the corner with his son, grandsons and great-grandsons; also a member of Poor Man's Yacht Club. He was an avid boater, enjoyed playing cards, dancing, bowling, shuffleboard and golf. His favorite place to be was in his boathouse 'put-zing' around, he would always find something to do. Roy will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of the Congregational Church, 36223 Alfred Street, New Baltimore. Visitation at Gendernalik Funeral Home, 35259 23 Mile Road in New Baltimore on Tuesday, February 26, from 2:30-8 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, New Baltimore.
