Thomas Tortomose, age 89, of St. Clair Shores, passed away on April 8, 2012. You didn't just die recently, you died sometime ago. Although your body stayed a while, and didn't really know. For you had Alzheimers, you failed to comprehend. Your body went on living, but your mind had reached its end. So we've already said "Goodbye" to the father that we knew. The person that we truly loved the person that was "you". Mr. Tortomose was a Word War II veteran in the 1230 Field Artillery Battalion of the United States Army, licensed barber, usher at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, avid bowler and owner of one of the first Ziebart franchise's as well as a barbecue rib connoisseur. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Cusimano). Dearest father to Amber Rose Godlewski (Dr. Matthew Godlewski), Odette, Thomas (Barb), Stephen (Mary Ellen), Pierrette Wood (John), Shawn (Kathy). Loving grandchildren Dr. Tomek Godlewski (Krissy), Dr. Brett Godlewski, Dr. Nicole Robertson (Deep), Aaron Robertson, Private Bliss Wood, U.S. Army, Tommy, Michael, Anthony, Kaylee. Two darling great-grandchildren Wynter and Ellora and his two caregivers Kathy and Hazel. No one has been luckier than us to have you in our lives. Predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Visitation Tuesday 2-9 p.m. with evening rosary 7 p.m. at the St. Clair Shores Chapel of the Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 25800 Harper Avenue (3 blocks N. of 10 Mile Road). Funeral Wednesday Instate 11:30 a.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 21120 Madison, St. Clair Shores until time of Mass 12 noon. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Share a memory at www.bcfh.com.
