Lee Ellen Young Obituary
Video Memory
Young, Lee Ellen, age 69, of Warren, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in her home with family. Lee was born in Farmington, Michigan to Ivan and Madeline Youngs on August 2, 1944. She attended Farmington High, graduating with the class of 1962. Lee married her high school sweetheart, Richard Young, on August 14, 1965, a year before graduating from Western Michigan University. She started work as a teacher for St. David School in Detroit, before finishing her teaching career with the Detroit Public Schools at Guyton Elementary where she received many honors for her exemplary work within the classroom. Lee took great comfort in knowing that her influence as an outstanding teacher made the world a better place, understanding that the greatest honor she ever received was the boundless gratitude given to her from the thousands of students who grew to love her. Her family has faith that Lee’s soul will rest in the peace and power that she so generously shared with others during her time on Earth. Lee was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Marie. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Young; her beloved daughter Kelley Young-Collins; her two granddaughters that meant the whole world to her, Kaylee and Katrina; her mother-in-law Dorothy Delaney, her sister-in-law Nancy Fowler, who stayed with her each night while in the hospital; her favorite brother-in-law, Brian Fowler; her brother who called and checked up on her every week while she was ill, Jon Youngs; four nephews; two great-nephews; and four great-nieces. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday at Edward Swanson and Son Funeral Home, 30351 Dequindre Rd. (S. of 13 Mile Rd.) Madison Hts.
