Gordon Emil Giganic Obituary
Gordon Emil Giganic, a resident of Macomb Township, entered heaven at 73 years of age on March 29. Gordon Giganic was born on December 23, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating high school Gordon served his country by spending four years in the United States Coast Guard. He returned home to serve the public once again in a different way, by becoming a fire fighter. He was inspired to become a fire fighter after living next door to one. He joined the Detroit Fire Department in 1961 and performed his job with the utmost passion. By the end of his 33 years in the Detroit Fire Department, Gordon was promoted to Deputy Chief. Gordon enjoyed serving as secretary of Box 12. Gordon also enjoyed building bird houses and spending time with his beloved family. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his children, James, Julie (Tedd) Sattler, Janet, Jill (Fernando) Mendez, Joseph (Kathy) and John (Vicky) Giganic; sister, Barbara (Fred) Pelletier; the mother of his children, Patricia Watycha; his grandchildren, Shawn, Scot (Vicki), Jaclyn Giganic, Ronald and Jamie Ballard, Emilio and Christina Mendez, Andrea, Trisha, and Aaron Giganic; and great-grandchildren Will and Mason Giganic. Gordon was preceded in death by his sister, Suzanne Knight and his parents, Joseph and Dorothy (nee Parks) Giganic. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31 from 1-9 p.m. and the Funeral service Friday, April 1 at 11 am (instate at 10:30 a.m.) Both the visitation and the funeral service will be held at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home located at 46530 Romeo Plank Rd (South of 21 Mile) Macomb Township, Michigan 48044. Gordon's burial will be at Glen Eden Cemetery. The family has requested memorial contributions be sent to the in lieu of flowers.
