Bernard Gordon Roskopp Obituary
Bernard Gordon Roskopp, age 88, died Thursday, May 5, 2011. A native of Mount Clemens, Mich., Mr. Roskopp served in the European Theatre in England, France and Germany during World War II. Upon his return from war, he completed his degree from Michigan State where he majored in Business and lettered in football for three years. He married Vivian Mealor Roskopp in 1954. Mr. Roskopp was a sales representative in the machine-tool industry in Atlanta, Ga., Dearborn, Mich.; and Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Roskopp lived in Montgomery, Ohio for 42 years before moving to Athens, Ga. in 2006. Mr. Roskopp is survived by his sister-in-laws, Lucy Rimler; Linda Smith (Leon); Louise Collier (Curtis); and Elaine Meehan (Clay) of Athens, Ga. and JoAnne Roskopp of Mt. Clemens, Mich. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Michigan and Georgia.He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, his siblings, John Roskopp, Catherine Irwin, and Frederick Roskopp.Mr. Roskopp was of the Catholic Faith. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Disaster Relief Fund.
