James Edward Turk

Hawkinsville, Ga- James Edward Turk, age 60, of Hawkinsville, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Abbeville United Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Taylor, Dr. Paul Turk, and Kyle Harold will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Morningside Cemetery in Rochelle, Georgia.
James was the son of the late Dilmas Edward Turk and Pauline Elizabeth Bush Turk. The native son of the communities of Abbeville and Rochelle, he took pride in his deep roots in Wilcox County. James was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church, the Rochelle Lions Club, and the Western Light Masonic Lodge #272. He was on the Board of Directors of the Wilcox County State Bank. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and the John Marshall School of Law. After 32 years of serving in public law, James spent much of his retirement advocating with the Volunteer Georgia Legal Service.
Survivors include: wife-Kara Turk of Hawkinsville, daughter-Charley (Kyle) Harold of Wilmore, Kentucky, son-Ed Turk of Atlanta, step-sons-John Bearer of Hawkinsville and Tyler Bearer of Rhine, step-daughter-Maggie (Tyler) Wells and grandson Cannon Wells of Chattanooga, Tennessee, brothers- Paul G. (Allison) Turk of Macon and Charlie B. (Sheila) Turk of Lake Oconee.
Frazier and Son Funeral Home in Rochelle has charge of arrangements.
