Spencer Fleetwood Maddox, Jr. MD Gray, GA - Spencer Fleetwood Maddox, Jr. MD, 82, died on Tuesday, July 1 at home after a brief illness. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church on 682 Mulberry Street with Reverend John Kinser, Dr. Mark Dalbey, and Mr. Marc Albertson officiating. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Maddox Jr., Spencer Fleetwood - Gray  
Spencer Fleetwood Maddox, Jr. MD Gray, GA- Spencer Fleetwood Maddox, Jr. MD, 82, died on Tuesday, July 1 at home after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 29 years, Katie Cook Maddox, his son, Spencer Fleetwood Maddox III and his wife, Shirley Rives Maddox and his daughter, Amy Maddox Bean, and her husband, Bernard Austin Bean, Jr. His son, Michael Alan Maddox, preceded him in death. He is the grandfather of Kristin Bean Sorensen, Taylor Duggan Maddox (Kara), Jessica Bean Williams (Matthew), Rives Morgan Maddox, Austin Langley Maddox, Rebecca Bean Minarovich (Patrick), Macy Maddox Davis (William), Rachel Elizabeth Bean, Sarah Hamilton Bean, Hunter Maddox Bean and Austin Luke Bean. He is the great-grandfather of Camden Lantz Sorensen, Adele Maddox Sorensen, and Paxton Kennett Davis. Born and raised in Macon, Dr. Maddox was the son of Martha Duggan Maddox and Spencer Fleetwood Maddox. An Eagle Scout, he attended the 1947 World Scout Jamboree in France. After graduating from Lanier High School in 1950, Dr. Maddox attended Mercer University where he studied chemistry and biology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Following graduation in 1957, he entered the United States Navy at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA where he completed his medical internship and residency in ophthalmology. Upon completion of serving his country, he held a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Children's Hospital in Washington D.C. He returned to Macon in 1965 to join Dr. Braswell Collins and four other surgeons to establish the Eye Center of Central Georgia where he practiced for forty years. During his years of practice, he taught at the Medical College of Georgia. He was the president of the Georgia Society of Georgia Ophthalmology. As one of the few pediatric ophthalmologists in the country, he was one of the founding members of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgery. He received the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology. As the 1997 Recipient of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award, Dr. Maddox was dedicated to medical missions, serving years in Jamaica with a team of medical doctors offering free medical services to the inner islanders. At home, he served as ophthalmologist advisor for the Knights Templar Educational Foundation. An active member of First Presbyterian Church, Dr. Maddox served on the founding board of First Presbyterian Day School. For over a decade, he served on the Board of Trustees for Covenant Theological Seminary. Visitation will be held Thursday at Snows Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street from 5-7 p.m. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church on 682 Mulberry Street with Reverend John Kinser and Mr. Marc Albertson officiating. McGehee Sr., Judge Othniel Weaver - Macon  
Judge Othniel Weaver McGehee, Sr. February 7, 1927 - July 1, 2015 Macon, GA- Judge Othniel Weaver McGehee Sr. of Macon, GA passed away on July 1, 2015. Judge McGehee was born on February 7, 1927, to James Thomas McGehee Jr. and Nell Frances Smith McGehee as the youngest of nine children. Before beginning a career in law, Judge McGehee served in the United States Army during WWII. Afterward, he attended Emory University School of Law, beginning his work as a lawyer in 1951. He served as the Judge of Recorders Court in Macon during the 1960s. He served as the Judge of the Bibb County Juvenile Court of Bibb County for 30 years before retiring in 1997. Throughout his career, Judge McGehee was recognized for his work in law as well as his work with the Macon-Bibb County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Kiwanis Club. He was a dedicated Christian and a faithful long-time member of Ingleside Baptist Church. Judge McGehee is preceded in death by his father, James Thomas McGehee Jr., his mother, Nell Frances Smith McGehee, his first wife, Patsy Echols McGehee and his stepdaughter Martha Malinda Balkcom . He is survived by his second wife, Jessie Balkcom McGehee, and his children, Debbie McGehee (Jim) Richards, Othniel W. "Buddy" (Mary) McGehee Jr., Julie McGehee (Mark) Wood, Frank Thomas (Stephanie) McGehee, Nell McGehee (John) Cain, Patsy McGehee (Todd) Stowe, his stepson Mark Steven (Nancy) Balkcom and his sister Nell McGehee Mathis. His legacy will live on with his fourteen surviving grandchildren. The visitation and funeral service will be held on July 6, 2015 at Ingleside Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Mattie McKinney September 21, 1929 - June 29, 2015 Warner Robins, GA- Mattie McKinney, 85, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015. Mattie was born on September 21, 1929 in Rock Hill, South Carolina to the late Hezekiah and Eva Douglas McKinney. She was a nurse for many years at Oceanview Nursing Home in Queens, New York, before moving to Warner Robins in 2008. In her spare time Mattie enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, making doll clothes, and cooking. She was the Mother and member of Christian Fellowship Church. Mattie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend; she will truly be missed by all who knew her. Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Larry Quintyne (Melanie) of Macon, Lawrence Perry Thompson, Sandra Thompson, Alicia Rogers (Mark), Brenda Thompson, Doris Thompson, all of Warner Robins; sister, Doretha Walls of Maryland; 6 grandchildren;7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. McLees, William G. "Bill" - Dublin  
William G. "Bill" McLees 10/29/1919 - 07/04/2015 Dublin, GA- William Gordon McLees, 95, of Dublin, Georgia, went to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 4, 2015. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 8, at First Baptist Church, Dublin, GA. Dr. Cliff Morris will be officiating. Members of the Townsend-Smith Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pall bearers. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery in Dublin. The family will receive visitors in the sanctuary at 1pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Dublin, or the Promise of Hope ministry in Dudley. Bill was born October 29, 1919 in Greenwood, South Carolina to James Maxie and Daisy Sullivan McLees. He graduated from Furman University and the Emory School of Dentistry. He served his country in World War II as a member of the 12th Armored Division. On December 11, 1954, he married the former Barbara Faye Hogan, daughter of Rubert and Gladys Hogan of Dudley. Like his father and brother, Bill practiced dentistry in Greenwood, South Carolina. In 1968, Bill and his family moved to Dublin where Bill engaged his interest in timber farming. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Dudley. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 40 years, and he was a longtime member of the Dublin Rotary Club. He enjoyed growing blueberries, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife Barbara and his children and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his two sons, William Gordon McLees Jr. (Jo Ellen) of Macon, and Rubert Hogan McLees (Carol) of Peachtree Corners; six granddaughters, two great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Daisy, his brother James McLees Jr., and his sister Mary McLees Bell.
