Mamie Lou Sapp January 16, 1934 - June 20, 2016 Cochran, GA- Mamie Lou Sapp, age 82, of Cochran, died Monday, June 20, 2016, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Sapp, a lifelong resident of Cochran, was the daughter of the late William N. and Ida Mullis Evans. She was the wife of the late Louis Sapp, was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Laura Evans and her brothers, Morris Evans and Lamar Evans. She was retired from Piggly Wiggly and had worked at McConnell's 5&10. She attended Cochran First Church of the Nazarene. Survivors are her children, Faye (Larry) Johnson of Hawkinsville, Shelia (Robert) Cannon of Chester and Terry (Janice) Sapp of Cochran; her sisters, Louise Warren and Betty Hatfield of Cochran; her brother, Gerald Evans of Cochran; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Scarborough, Mary - Cochran  
Mary Scarborough August 17, 1926 - June 20, 2016 Cochran, GA- Mary Towns Scarborough, age 89, died Monday, June 20, 2016, in McRae Manor Nursing Home in McRae-Helena. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 4:00 P.M. at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Scarborough, born in Telfair County, had lived in Cochran, then moved to Tampa, FL and later moved back to Cochran. She was the daughter of the late Carvey Edward and Nancy Katherine Pope Towns, was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Hiram Scarborough and her daughter Vanessa Ann Scarborough Headrick. She was retired civil service from Robins Air Force Base and MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. She was a member of Church of God. Survivors are her son, Ronald Scarborough of Albany; brother, Gene (Anna Laura) Towns of Cochran; several nieces and nephews. Velma S. Sears October 31, 1935 - June 26, 2016 Macon, GA- Velma S. Sears, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016. A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City, GA with the Rev. John Prettyman and Rev. Larry Ressor officiating. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her children: Lisa Sears (Keith) Blankenship of Macon, James H. (Robin) Sears, Jr. of Macon, John W. Robert Joseph Sires May 22, 1946 - June 19, 2016 Gray, GA- Robert Joseph "Bob" Sires died Sunday, June 19, 2016. A memorial service will be held at Gray United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 3:00PM in the Historic Chapel with Dr. Jason Wade and Reverend Jay Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00PM-3:00PM in the Gray United Methodist Church family life center. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Building Fund, Gray United Methodist Church, 117 South Jefferson St., Gray, GA 31032. Mr. Sires was born May 22, 1946 in Macon and had lived in Gray most of his adult life. He was the son of the late Ralph Murrah Sires and Claudia Latane Sires. He was a graduate of Jones County High School and Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. Bob was a retired Lt. Colonel, Assistant Chief of Law Enforcement for the Department of Natural Resources. He was an active member of Gray United Methodist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class for many years and served in various positions during this time. Mr. Sires is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 48 years Patricia Brown Sires of Gray; daughter and son-in-law Tommy and Amy Wells of Athens, GA; son and daughter-in-law Joe and Jessica Sires of Gray; grandchildren Wesley, Luke, Tanner and Zach of Athens, and Gracie and Campbell of Gray; sister-in-laws, Ellen Childs Sires and Jeanette Warren. J.T. was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Doyle and Lena Powers Stancile and was preceded in death by his daughters, Sherry Sears, Doylena Sheppard and Wanda Wright. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Clerk with Norfolk Southern. J.T. was a member of the VFW and the Dirt Track Racing Hall of Fame, collected pottery and bottle, and built utility trailers.
