Shoup, Melvin Gene - Kathleen  
GySgt. Melvin Gene Shoup, USMC (Ret.) February 24, 1938 - May 18, 2015 Kathleen, GA- Melvin Gene Shoup, 77, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015. Melvin was born on February 24, 1938 in Angola, Indiana and was of the Baptist faith. With pride and honor, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps with three tours in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he received 31 air medals with Combat V including the Republic of Vietnam Air Gallantry Cross with Bronze Wings Award and the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V. Subsequent to Melvin's military retirement, he went on to retire from both Lockheed Martin and Raytheon, Inc. Melvin loved the United States Marine Corps and was devoted to his country, but most of all, he adored his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Alice Sommerlott Shoup; and brother, Jerry Shoup. Melvin's memory will forever be treasured by his loving wife of 46 years, Vesta Asby Shoup of Kathleen; sons, Victor Shoup (Terese Lunde) of Alpharetta and Mitch Shoup of Lake City, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley Shoup, Alex Rodrigues, Ethan Shoup, and Hunter Shoup; brother, Allen Shoup (Mary) of Palatka, Florida; sister-in-law, Roberta Hopkins of Aurora, North Carolina; and several adoring nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggest memorial donations be given in memory of Melvin to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Ste A, Macon, GA 31201. Evelyn M. Smith Gainesville, GA- Evelyn M. Smith of Gainesville,Ga. formally of Macon went to join her husband Roy Smith and her son Maxie Smith on May 24,2015. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs.W.W.Irby ,she was born January 28,1920 in Macon. A graveside service will be held today, Wednesday , May 27, 2015 at 2:00PM in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter,Yvonne Ussery-Vey of Columbus, Ohio and son Ken Smith (Carole) of Gainesville, Ga. and brother Skeets Irby (Al Carroll) of Macon.She is also survived by 8 Grand Children, 9 Great Grand Children and 3 Great, Great Grand Children. Pauline Ingeborg Smith March 19, 1920 - May 19, 2015 Warner Robins, GA- Pauline Ingeborg Smith, 95, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Pauline was born on March 19, 1920 in Auingen, Germany and was of the Protestant faith. She was a school teacher for several years before owning and operating The Gift Shop in Warner Robins. In her retirement, Pauline enjoyed reading and crocheting. Her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert Eugene Smith; parents, Gottlob and Margarete Gerstenmaier Schaefer; and siblings, Paul Schaefer and Ruth Sowlier, preceded her in death. Pauline's memory will forever be treasured by her loving daughters, Roberta Wilson (Glenn) of Warner Robins, Georgia, Carmen McCarthy of Woodstock, Georgia, and Hannelore Nonnast (Klaus) of Neuhausen, Germany; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. EVELYN STANLEY MACON, GA- Funeral services for Evelyn Stanley will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Macedonia Baptist Church in Irwinton. Bishop Dexter Lamar will officiate. Ms. Stanley, 81, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. Survivors include one son, Ervin (Sherone) Hill; one brother, Andrew (Thelma) Odom; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family shall receive friends 6 -7 PM tonight in the Chapel of Jones Brothers Mortuary, 3035 Millerfield Road, Macon.

Stokes, Betty Morgan - Macon  
Betty Morgan Stokes September 12, 1930 - May 19, 2015 Macon, GA- Betty Stokes, age 84, passed away Tuesday morning. Mrs. Stokes was born in Macon to the late Charlie Robert Morgan and Molly Inez Gravitt Morgan. Mrs. Stokes loved her Lord and she attended Christ Temple All Cultures Ministries. Mrs. Stokes' other love, second only to the Lord, was Burger King. She spent countless hours at the Pio Nono Avenue Burger King enjoying her Whopper Jr.'s and visiting with the employees and other customers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Stokes, Jr.; and two children, Betty Belinda Lewis and Dennis Roy Lewis. Mrs. Stokes is survived by her four children, Charles Lewis (Ann) of Jeffersonville, Patsy Moore of Jones County, Mary Burdeshaw of Gordon, and James Lewis (Polly) of Jones County; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
