Macon, GA- Gwendoline Anne Blount, age 91, formerly of Macon, GA. passed away on March 7, 2014. She is preceded in death by John E. Blount, her loving husband of 41 years. Anne is survived by her only child, John E. "Sonny" Blount and daughter-in-law, JoAnn who live in Buford, GA. She is also survived by one grandson John Robert Blount and his wife Andrea along with five great granddaughters Mallory, Whitney, Gracie, Shay and Bria who live in Suwanee, GA.
Anne was born of British decent in South Africa where she lived until moving to England at the age of 10. She served England in the military service during World War II
where she met her future husband John. They married in England and moved to John's hometown of Macon after the war. She spent most of her married and adult life in Macon, which she dearly loved. Anne was an avid gardener and enjoyed volunteer work, fishing and working crossword puzzles. She was an active volunteer in the "Nearly New" retail shop and volunteered for several years on the Macon Crisis Hot Line. She was Episcopalian and previously attended church at St. Paul's Episcopal in Macon. In July 2009 she moved to assisted living in the Buford area to be closer to her family.
A memorial service will be held onSunday, March 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Hal Weidman officiating. The family will greet friends from 2:00PM until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anne's memory to Agape Hospice House at 208 Memory Lane, Winder, GA 30680.
