James Alonza "Lonnie" Williams

HADDOCK, GA- James Alonza Williams, 70, entered into eternal rest on September 30, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 1:00PM at Jordan Chapel AME Church, Haddock, GA. Burial will be at the Little Family Cemetery.
James served during the Vietnam War
from 1967-1971 and was with the United States Marine Corps
. He did his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina and was honorably discharged. Williams was with the 1st Marine Division of Alpha Company 1/7 and operated the M-60. Mr. Williams received several awards during his military time; they included the National Defense Service Medal with 5 battle stars, the Purple Heart
Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Vietnam Medal Award.
James "Lonnie" Williams during his free time was an avid fisherman and spent most of his time fishing. He worked at Armstrong World Ind. for 12 years and also worked for the City of Gray Police Department for 5 years. After retiring, Mr. Williams enjoyed his time with his loving wife, daughter and grandson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jestine Williams; 3 daughters, Valeria Burney of Greensboro, NC, Sheldonna K. Williams of Haddock and Felicia Ware of Macon; his siblings, Leoleaves Patterson (Walter) of Gray and Major Williams of Milledgeville; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
