Dublin, GA- Reverend John Padgett, age 83, entered his Eternal Home on Wednesday.
John was born in Telfair County to the late Isom Padgett and Carrie Hulett Padgett. He loved the Lord and pastored Assembly of God churches throughout Georgia and Central Alabama. He most recently pastored East Dublin Assembly of God and Baker County Assembly of God. John proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, and later retired from Robins Air Force Base after more than 25 years of service. He also owned Padgett's Barber shop.
John was preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Brown; great grandson, Evan Carpenter; and nine brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Margaret Padgett; daughter, Debra Gail Turner of Warner Robins; son, Ron Padgett of Dublin; grandchildren, Michelle Snellgrove, Lorie Jones, Stephen Padgett (Dena), and Sonya Jackson (Scott); great grandchildren, Shayne Snellgrove, Kayla Jones, Emily Jones, Peyton Jones, Hunter Carpenter, Caleb Padgett, Kaya Jackson, and Christopher Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12 noon, Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the Chapel of Crest Lawn. Reverend Steve Hardeman, Reverend Hugh Spivey, and Reverend Harold Thornton will officiate. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
