I just found out Rudolph is gone. He was my mentor, my friend and like a father to me. I missed him already because I live so far away. Now I will miss him, and appreciate him forever. Rest in Peace my friend. I love you.

I had the priviledge of getting to know Mr. Patterson while serving as a Vocational Expert in the mid 1980's in many of the Social Security Hearings in which he was representing SSDI applicants. He was the consummate professional, and early on earned my respect and admiration as an extremely knowledgeable advocate for his clients. My condolences to his family.

may his gentle soul rest in peace .

I was saddened to learn of Rudy's passing. I am one of the very earliest members of NOSSCR and have known Rudy about 35 years. He was the complete gentleman: civil, kind, caring, polite, considerate, and fundamentally decent, and all in such clear manner as to distinctly stand out and differentiate him from most of the rest of us. I always considered him as an exemplar of the better person to be, to become, to emulate. Rudolph raised the level of discourse, personally and certainly professionally, when you were engaged with him. The world was better for him in it, and now is less. I am diminished by his passing.

He was very fine gentleman and a wonderful lawyer. We served in the ABA House of Delegates for several years. We always discussed the issues before the House and often had lunch together. He will be missed.

Rudy was not only a great lawyer, but a good golfer and friend. Compatriots on ABA Committees and advocates for the disabled on both personal and professional levels. He is an example of class and conviction we will all miss. My deepest condolences to the family. Dave Bryant

I am so sad to hear this news. Wise beyond words, deeply generous, aboundingly kind, the well of energy and determination and strategic forethought of a man always possessed of a worthy mission for others. This was the person I remember as Rudolph.

He took me under his wing when I was literally a legal pup, and with his easy-mannered, socratic, self effacing way, I counted myself only lucky, never led or guided. Guided, though, I was, and ny life and career were profoundly better for having been in his orbit for the time I knew him.

Rudolph was among the most effective and powerful people I have ever had the good fortune to meet. For me, his most endearing and instructive quality was that the lIon's share of his power came not from force and swordsmanship (though he'd be my first pick in any fight). Rudolph was a force of nature because he knew how to knit -- knit most of all of us together into one big, succesful fabric, the practical and proverbial coat of many colors.

Long live the memory and lessons of our friend.

Ms. Margaret, Jay and Lindsey, My heart just broke when I got the news on Saturday. I worked with Mr. P for the entire time I was at the firm and for that period of 13 plus years he was the most amazing person. I enjoyed our talks about business but also about life. I loved to hear his stories of growing up in the south. I had the most respect for him. He taught me so much and for that I am grateful. I will always have a special place in my heart for him. He will be missed.

I worked for Rudolph from 1981 to 1985, and we collaborated on several cases after my move to Virginia. My husband Karl Rice and I agree that he was one of the most decent human beings we have ever known. As my supervisor and mentor, he modeled qualities of compassion, empathy, excellence, and service. He treated everyone with dignity and respect. And what a smile! His photo from the Georgia Bar Journal is a perfect reminder of who he was. He will be missed.

I received the heartbreaking news yesterday morning that Mr Patterson, known affectionately to us as "Mr. P", passed away yesterday. This man meant so much to me & was so much of a mentor & father figure to me. I had the pleasure of working beside him for 11 years & loved all of his wisdom & humor that he shared daily. He was a big part of my family history. My grandfather taught him how to fly & he ran the roads & the air with my Uncle Bob. Oh the stories he would tell me about those days & even holding me as a baby & watching me grow up for years. I was honored when he hired me & would not trade any of the memories & wisdom I got from him for ANY amount of money in the world!! Rest in Peace Mr P & I love you!!!

Rudolph was a professional friend of mine and we came to have a friendship for more than 40 years. I was so happy that he attended my retirement party. In the years that I knew him, I witnessed him help so many people just because he cared. I know that he is smiling again now that he is in Heaven.

Mr. P, as he was fondly called by many of his staff, was one of the kindest men I've ever known. I worked for his firm for over 20 years and he never said an unkind word to me. He is one of the people I've missed the most since my retirement. His family meant everything to him and he will be sorely missed by so many people. My prayers are with Margaret and Jay and the rest of the Patterson family. May God bring you peace through all the wonderful memories you have accumulated over the years.

Mr. Patterson was one of the nicest and most professional people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He represented me as my attorney and his legal expertise was peerless. He was a very learned and a formidable opponent in the law, a natural and hard fighting winner. I lift his family up in prayer today as they go through this difficult period of bereavement. I pray that God is at the center of their strength, trust, and hope at this time. May Mr. Patterson rest in peace as he enters into his "Masters Joy."

In His Service and Joy...
