Frances Kay "Pannie" Hays Trexler
DUNELLON, FL- Frances Kay "Pannie" Hays Trexler, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, after an extended illness. At Pannie's request, her family will gather on the beach she loved, Ormond Beach, to celebrate her life on Thursday, June 30, 2016, just before sundown. A wreath of red roses, her favorite flowers, will be released into the ocean.
Pannie was born in Byron to the late Frances Hobbs Hays and the late Cary F. Hays, Jr. She grew up in Musella and was a member of Musella Baptist Church, P. O. Box 56, Musella, Georgia 31066. A 1954 graduate of Crawford County High School, she was an excellent basketball player. After attending University of Georgia and Mercer University, Pannie became a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines, graduating from their training program in 1956. She lived in Atlanta for several years, but eventually began to call Florida her home. Living in and around the Ocala area, she was a Medical Transcriptionist at University of Florida Shands Hospital. Upon retirement, Pannie settled in Dunellon to be near her children and grandson. While she enjoyed traveling to Georgia to visit her family, her true passion was spending time with her children and grandson whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Susanna Hicks Hays; her beloved paternal grandparents, Lucy Persons Hays, "Mama", and C. F. Hays, Sr., "Papa"; and her Hays aunts, Eloise Scarborough, Virginia Murdock, and Emily Thornton.
Left to cherish the memories of Pannie are her children, Leslie Markley Scroggins of West Palm Beach, Kitty Markley and Jimmy Markley, both of Dunellon; her grandson, Dylan Scroggins of West Palm Beach; her siblings, Carole Hays Holland of Roberta, Cary F. "Buddy" Hays, III (Pat) of Musella, Lynn Hays Davis of Macon, and Shelley Hays Turner (Tom) of Marshallville; her Aunt Jackie Hays Edwards of Byron; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a host of cousins.
