Barbara Dunbar Cooper
June 6, 1934 - October 28, 2013
Byron, GA- Barbara Ann Dunbar Cooper, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, October 28, 2013. Barbara was born on June 6, 1934, in Byron, Georgia, to the late David C. and Ann Snow Dunbar. She was a lifelong member of Byron United Methodist Church. Throughout her life, Barbara was employed at Robins Air Force Base, drove a school bus for Peach County Schools, was secretary and treasurer for many years at Byron United Methodist Church, and eventually retired from the U. S. Government after her last position at the College Street Post Office in Macon. The position dearest to her heart, though, was that of Mother to her surviving daughter, Dano Ann Cooper.
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, James Melvin Cooper; her parents, her brother, Dr. David C. Dunbar, Jr. ; and her nephew, David C. Dunbar, III. Her memory will forever be treasured by Dano; her aunt, Mrs. Joyce Snow Agliano of Tampa, FL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was a member of the Village Green Garden Club, the Byron Roadrunners Club, the Byron Bunch Square-dancers, and a charter member of the Margaret Jones Sewing Circle in Byron.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Byron United Methodist Church, 103 West Heritage Blvd, with her nephew, Rev. Buddy Cooper, and Rev. Tyler Plaxico officiating. Burial will follow at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron.
