David Bruce Coleman, Jr.
Byron, GA- ABINGDON, VA - David Bruce Coleman Jr., 88, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013.
Colonel Coleman, a veteran of three wars, proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 37 years before retiring in 1978. He was survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jane Coleman, three children and their spouses: Vicky and Rodney Hershberger of Byron, GA, David and Trish Coleman of Marietta, GA , and Tina and Kim Sweet of Rogers, AR. Col. Coleman was grandfather to three grandchildren and spouses: Sarah and Jay Busbin of Douglasville, GA, Coleman and Jason Burnett of Santa Fe, NM, and Jake Hershberger of Warner Robins, GA. He enjoyed the company of two great-grand children, Nick and Alex Busbin.
Col. Coleman, a WWII Prisoner of War, was put to rest on Wednesday, June 25, 2013 at Andersonville National Historical Cemetery with military honors. Col. Coleman was an active member of the ex-POW and VFW. Donations can be made in his name to the Paul Frazier Memorial Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War: Attention James Beaver, PO Box 2103, Abingdon, VA 24212.
