Thomas Raymond Gaines, 89, passed away on Sunday August 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 21st, in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Parkway Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. Visitation will be from 6 PM until 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaines was born in Marion County, GA. He was the preceded in death by his parents James Paul and Lucille (Matthews) Gaines and his wife Martha Nell (Autry) Gaines. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base as an Aviation Planning Chief and from the City of Warner Robins working in the repair shop. He was a member of the Northview Methodist Church.
Mr. Gaines was Past Most Illustrious Grand Master of Grand Council of GA, Past High Priest Constantine Chapter #4, Past Illustrious Master of Washington Council #6, Past Commander of St. Omer Commander #4, Past Puissant Sovereign of New Conclave Council of Red Cross of Constantine 33 degree, 50 year member of Valley of Macon Scottish Rite, member of the Al Shiah Shrine Temple in Macon, member of the Middle GA York Rite College, member of the Horace L. Whitlock Council of Allied Masonic Degrees #309, member of the 7th District Convention, member of the Kentucky Colonels, Honorary member of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky, Charter member of the Genesis Chapter #166 York Rite, Charter member of the St. Peter Commander #45 York Rite, Charter member of the Covenant Council UD York Rite, * Past Master of Tyrian Lodge #111 of Warner Robins, Past Master of 12th Masonic District , Custodian of the work for the 12th Masonic District for over 40 years, member of the Martha Berry Chapter of the Eastern Star of Warner Robins and former board member of the Rainbow for girls and Demolay for boys.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Briener and husband Bill of Milledgeville, sons Terry Gaines and wife Renee of Columbus, Paul Gaines and wife Debbie of Kathleen, grandchildren Aubrey Briener, Austin Briener, Cole Briener, Katie Kamara and husband Hassan, 2 great grandchildren Sophia and Caleb, cousins Julia Holland of Cataula, Shirley Story of Ellaville, John Oscar Matthews of Ellaville, Benny Elwin Matthews of Ellaville, Vivian Meyers of Charleston, Joyce Perry of Americus and Daisy Nelson of Athens.
