William Delano Merritt
September 18, 1952 - March 12, 2014
Macon, GA- William Delano Merritt, 61, passed away Wednesday. Services will be private.
He was born to the late William Elbert and Genella Walker Merritt and raised in Crawford County. A Vietnam Veteran having served in 173d Airborne Brigade, he retired from the Macon Police Department after 25 years of service. He worked at Hatcher Petroleum Transport until his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Goodwin Merritt; son, Andy Merritt (Amber); daughter, Amanda Merritt; grandchildren, Christina (Tyler), Alexus, Trae, Kaitlyn, Tennely; great-granddaughter, MaKenna; sisters, Kay Lord, Vickie (Wayne) Miller, Beverly (Eddie) Bloodworth; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey Teague and nephew, Tony Lord.
Flowers are not needed; contributions may be sent to the trust fund established for his only great-grandchild at SunTrust Bank. Please contact the family for more information.
