William Lamar Duncan, Sr.
Byron, GA- William Lamar Duncan, Sr., 90, died Friday, March 28, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM on Monday, March 31, 2014, in the Chapel of Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron, with Rev. Eric Filmer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00PM in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 10:00AM until service time at Rooks Funeral Home.
Born in Barrow County to the late William Herman Duncan and Allie Lee Clark Duncan, Mr. Duncan retired from civil service at Robins Air Force Base and was a member of Saint Juliana Catholic Church. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II as a radio operator and side gunner on B17's and B24's. His lifelong interest was caring for his family, his children and grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Anna DeLorco Duncan. Survivors include his sons, Bill Duncan, Jr. and wife Pam of Alpharetta, and Tom Duncan and wife Joan of St. Simons Island; grandchildren, Chris Duncan and wife Holly of Sandy Springs, Adam Duncan of Alpharetta, Hailey Jones and husband Adam of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Keeli Duncan of St. Simons Island, Rylie Duncan of Atlanta, and Baylor Duncan of St. Simons Island; great grandchildren, Graham Duncan, Duncan Jones, and Portland Jones; and a sister, Shirley Segars of Winder.
