Byron, GA- Howard Austin Clark, MSgt. Ret., 84, died Saturday, February 1, 2014. Services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, February 7, 2014, in the Chapel of Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron, with Rev. Paul Gerlock officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 12 noon in Andersonville National Cemetery, 496 Cemetery Road in Andersonville. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Rooks Funeral Home in Byron.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio, to the late William J. Clark and Isabelle Cunningham Clark, Mr. Clark was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from June 1948 to 1968. He then worked at Lockheed and retired from Robins AFB. He was a member of Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church. As a Mason, he was a member of the Ivanhoe Commandry, served as past master of the Fort Valley Lodge #110, past president of the Peach County Shriner's Club and was a Shriner in the Al Shiah Shrine Temple in Macon.
Survivors include children, David Alan Clark (Debra) of Byron, William Howard "Bill" Clark (also a fellow Mason) of Fairborn, Ohio, Mark Wade Clark (Donna) of Dry Branch, and Mary Arnold (John) of Marietta; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a sister, June Robinson of New Cumberland, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Zaida Hall Clark.
