Macon, GA- Charles Monroe Burgess, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Noon in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Macon Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Danny Lyles officiating. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the

Mr. Burgess was born in Sycamore, Georgia to the late J.J. and Beulah Howell Burgess. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War and was the owner of Burgess Service Center. Monroe attended Bethel Baptist Church and was a mechanic who still worked on cars until the age of 82 and he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hutcheson Burgess of Lizella, children; Barbara (Mike) Rowe of Macon, Carolyn Meyers of Perry, Freddy Hutcheson of Byron, two grandchildren; Misty and Brian and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings; Floyd, Jessie, Annell, Jannell and Cora Faye and numerous nieces and nephews.
