Ralph Cecil Bell, Sr.
Byron, GA- Ralph Cecil Bell, Sr., 85, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in the Chapel of Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron, with Rev. Randall Mimbs officiating. Burial will follow in Byron City Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, February 28, 2014, at Rooks Funeral Home in Byron. Family may be contacted at 103 Carrington Lane in Byron.
Born in Swainsboro to the late L.L. and Fannie W. Bell, Mr. Bell served in the Air Force during the Korean War and retired after 39 years of civil service at Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Mikado Baptist Church, and loved to travel and tinker on cars.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Evie Jarrell Bell; their children, Ralph C. Bell, Jr. of Byron, and Tonya Kitchens (Joe) of Centerville; grandchildren, Hayle Bell, Heath Bell, Summer Bell, Michelle Rice, Kady Rice, Mary Kitchens, and Kaeden Kitchens; brother, William Bell (Carlo) of Lizella; lifelong friend, J. R. Merritt of Ole Towne, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a son, Tommy Bell, and brothers, Thomas Bell, Sambo Bell, and Lenwood Bell.
The family would like to thank all the nurses at Heart of Georgia Hospice. Their gifts of healing love and compassion helped all the family through this journey.
