Orie Marlin Davis
Atlanta, GA- Orie Marlin Davis, age 82, died peacefully on March 22, 2014, surrounded by his family. Orie was born in Kinnard, IN, and grew up on the West Coast. He lived in Wichita, Kansas, for a number of years and in Macon, GA, for 32 years before moving to the Atlanta area in late 2009. He was the son of Thomas Valentine Davis and Lena Marceil Jones Davis, both of whom pre-deceased him.
Orie was a draftsman by trade and worked in the steel and construction industry for 57 years; for 31 of those years, he was self-employed. He was instrumental in the design and fabrication of metal hand rails, metal buildings, and bridges.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years , Gail Rogers Davis; his children, Marlin (Glady) Davis of California, Eileen (Bruce) Kimble and Brian (Teresa) Davis of Kansas, George (Dondra) Davis of Dunwoody, GA, and Ruth Davis-Rogers of Maryland. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his brother, Tom (Berniece)Davis, sister, Helen Rodenberger, brother, Don Wedel, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Norcross, 400 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Norcross, GA, on Wednesday, March 26, at 2:00. If desired, memorials can be made to Christ Church Norcross, 400 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Norcross, GA or to Christ Church Macon, 582 Walnut Street, Macon, GA 31201. Dearest Gail, how surprised I was to see the news about Orie! I have thought of you so often during these past years. Your were the very best neighbors we could have had when living on Old Lundy Rd! My Jim has been gone for over four years now & I still find it hard to believe! But I have so many good memories, Just as you do! God's Grace is sufficent! Know my prayers are with you & your family.
