MARTHA JONES KELLY

CHAUNCEY, GA- Martha Mozelle Jones Kelly, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2014, at her home in Chauncey, Ga., surrounded by family. A native of Milan, Ga., and a lifelong resident of Dodge County, she was the first of nine children of Sarah Martha Hardy and John Robert Charlton Jones, born Nov. 8, 1921. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Jayne Evelyn Jones, John Robert Charlton Jones, Jr., Betty Jones Taylor, Kindell C. Jones, Windell C. Jones, and Wilburn C. Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, April 14, at Southerland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Royce Vaughn and Rev. Granton Helms officiating, with interment in Chauncey City Cemetery.
Martha graduated from Milan High School with honors at the age of 15, class of 1937. She graduated from Middle Georgia College in 1939 and from Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, Ga., in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English and French, and with a minor in Library Science. She married Ralph Stewart Kelly, Sr. on Nov. 16, 1941.
Martha was a member of Chauncey Methodist Church for 72 years. She taught in the Dodge County School System for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph Stewart Kelly, Sr., and seven children: Saralyn Kelly Entrekin (Marshall); Ralph Stewart Kelly, Jr. (Gloria); John Caswell Kelly, Sr. (Linda); Brinda Kelly Stanley; Linda Kelly Covington (Melton); Kerry Kelly Graham (Wayne); and Jan Kelly Loyd (Frankie). She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 4:00PM-6:00PM Sunday, April 13. In addition to flowers the family requests donations be made to Chauncey United Methodist Church, c/o Bob Kelly, P.O. Box 118, Chauncey, GA 31011.
