Mrs. Robert Wyman McAllister
Macon , GA - Mrs. Robert Wyman McAllister, the former Anne Katherine Donnelly, died Sunday, April 27, 2014. A rosary was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the Chapel of Hart's Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Allan McDonald on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church and the family will greet friends at a repass immediately following in the social hall. Burial will be private.
Mrs. McAllister was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Francis Cletus Donnelly and the late Gladys Holmes Donnelly. She received her formative education at Mt. de Sales Academy for Girls and her higher education at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia and the University of Georgia.
In 1937 she married Robert Wyman McAllister, MD and lived variously in Chicago, New York and Connecticut while he pursued his medical training.
Mrs. McAllister was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where her grandfather was among the founders.
She was active in her church and the community, belonging to the Catholic Women's Club, the Women's Auxiliary of the Bibb County Medical Society, the Middle Georgia Historical Society, Friends of the Library, the Junior League of Macon, and Idle Hour Golf and Country Club.
Mrs. McAllister is survived by her children, Carol McAllister Cullen of Macon and Robert Wyman McAllister, Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Virginia, Minnesota; granddaughters, Lauren McAllister of Portland, Oregon and Meaghan McAllister of Duluth, Minnesota and a sister, Patricia Donnelly Chopo of Decatur, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Georgia Lee Howard. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Madden Donnelly.
