Claude Alexander Combs, Sr.
Byron, GA- Claude Alexander Combs, Sr., 82, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Sandy Valley Baptist Church, 1124 S. Houston Lake Road in Warner Robins, with Rev. Phil Bryant officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Byron City Cemetery, 100 Murdock Lane in Byron. Family will greet friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Sandy Valley Baptist Church.
Born in Macon to the late George Edward Combs and Lois Pauline Cranford Combs, Mr. Combs was the owner and operator of Byron Printing, served in the Navy and was a member of Sandy Valley Baptist Church. He was a teacher, mentor, and always willing to help anyone.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frankie Jean Warren Combs, and a sister, Laverne Rawlins. Survivors include his children, Lenny Rushin (Cliff) of Macon, Claude A. "Chuck" Combs, Jr. (Kim) of Macon, Kathy Bryant (Phil) of Perry, Barbara Jordan (Paul) of Byron, Eddie Combs (Susan) of Macon, Lisa Scott (Bob) of Byron, and Sharon Jones (Dan) of Byron; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sister, Millie Little of Macon; and his special companion, "Sweetie."
