Jones County, Georgia- James Duane "J.D." Weekley, 64, of Skinner Road, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his residence. The family will greet friends one hour prior to a 3:00pm, Memorial service on Friday, July 19, 2013, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Mr. Melvin Johnson and Rev. Steve Womack will officiate.
Mr. Weekley was born January 15, 1949, in Columbia, South Carolina and had lived in Jones County for the past thirty-two years. He was the son of the late James Franklin Weekley and Mary Ott Weekley. Mr. Weekley honorably served his country with the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was also a retired law enforcement officer, serving several agencies over his career including the Jones County Sheriff's Office. Mr. Weekley was preceded in death by two brothers: Steven Weekley and Tony Weekley.
Mr. Weekley is survived by his sons: Kenneth Weekley and Steve Weekley; brother: Robert "Bobby" Weekley; four grandchildren and his longtime girlfriend: Denise Lindsey.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 4900 Mercer University Drive, Suite 2, Macon, Georgia 31210.
