Mr. Billy Rudolph Barnfield was born on July 4, 1929 in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Luster O. and Viola Ellis Barnfield. He was one of eight siblings born to this union. Besides his parents; brothers, Cordell Barnfield, J.B. Barnfield, R.V. Barnfield, and Donald Barnfield, sisters, Opal Dickens, Lorell Gann, and Laura Ballou, several brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law also preceded him in death.
Billy was in the Air Force during the Korean War, he served six years in active duty. He remained in the Air Guard for twenty seven more years. He retired from the Air Force and moved back to Lafayette to devote time to Lafayette Real Estate and Auction Company. He and Billy Roark worked hard and enjoyed every minute of the business until he proudly passed the business to a fine young man, Ben Bray.
Billy has three children, Billy Jr., Joan, and Jane by a previous marriage. He later married Norma Barnfield in 1974, sharing thirty-nine years together.
His favorite pass times were being a champion marble player and riding on many wagon rides with his friends.
Billy's biggest love was his family farm. He always was excited to have his family and friends come to visit and always planned his annual 4th of July party and welcomed everyone.
He was always active in the community and a member of the Hillsdale Masonic Lodge
Billy never missed an opportunity to have a laugh or visit with his friends.
Finding peace and salvation as a young boy, Billy joined Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a member.
On Monday, March 24, 2014 at the age of 84 the Lord called Billy home. His family will greatly miss his laughter and smiles, but our loss is Heaven's Gain.
Funeral services for Billy Barnfield were conducted Friday at 11 am from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Blackwell and Elder Glenn Brawner officiating. Interment followed in the Barnfield Cemetery. Billy is survived by; Wife, Norma Barnfield of Lafayette, TN, Son, Billy R. (Cindy) Barnfield, Jr. of Goodlettsville, TN,
Daughters, Joan Barnfield, and Jane Keith all of Nashville, TN, Grandchildren, Chris (Allison) Keith, Kristina (Mark) Stubblefield, Billy Barnfield, III, Rachel Barnfield, Candice (Thomas) Haggard, and Casey Cappa, Great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Isaiah Haggard, He leaves many beloved nieces and nephews that he loved and enjoyed their kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. Billy had many friends, but especially loved Mark Sullivan, Jimmy and Joy Spivey and all of his breakfast buddies at La-Tia's, in the last years of his long life.
