Garland Ray Buck, 84, of West Jefferson, better known as "Buck" to loved ones, was welcomed into Heaven by many Angels waiting on him on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.
Garland was born June 11, 1928, in Calhoun County, West Virginia, the son of Orvin and Vanna Core Buck.
Garland graduated from Calhoun County High School, Class of 1948.
Garland enlisted in the U.S. Army
, Aug. 10, 1948, and took his basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was stationed in Austria and Germany for 36 months and was honorably discharged May 29, 1952.
He was employed Sept. 4, 1952 and retired Sept. 1, 1982 from General Motors
Fisher Body Corporation in Columbus, Ohio.
He was a member of the UAW local 969; past member of American Legion Post 201 in West Jefferson; Masonic Lodge and was a life time member of VFW
Post 7005 in West Jefferson, Ohio.
Survived by Loving Wife of 38 years, Pearl E. (Baker) Buck; children, Deborah (Mel) Troyer, Orvin Eugene Buck, Mike (Pat) McGaughey; stepchildren, Robert (Jamie) Gentzel, Royce (Linda) Gentzel, Mike (Chris) Brown, Paula (David Hay) Brown Martin; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Ann Buck; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orvin Buck and Vanna Core Buck Waldo; his twin sister, Garnet May; sister, Beatrice; brothers, Kenneth and Orvin Glenn Buck; stepdaughter, Rita Gentzel Mitchell.
Family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. Main St., West Jefferson, where Funeral and Military Service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday. Interment of cremated remains will be at the convenience of the family.
