Glenna A. Thompson(March 12, 1916 - Aug. 15, 2013)

Glenna A. Thompson, 97, of Springfield, died at 3:05 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013 in the Oakwood Village Care Facility in Springfield.
Born on March 12, 1916 in Springfield, she was a daughter of Harry and Carrie (Goings) Ackerman.
Glenna was a teacher for 40 years, having taught in Clark, Champaign, and Madison counties.
She was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church and a member of the Women's Society of the church. A member of the Clark and Champaign County Retired Teachers Associations. She was also a member and past president of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member and past worthy matron of the Caroline Chapter No. 39 O.E.S., and a charter member and past president of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Society. Glenna was also a member of the Springfield Club.
Survivors are her daughter, Sharon Bixler of Springfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Jonathan (Diana) Clunk, Christopher (Kelly) Clunk, and Kara (Brian) Davis, all of Springfield; great-grandsons, William "Billy" Clunk and Nicholas Clunk, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,  Pearl W. Thompson, on July 13, 2001; two brothers, Herman and Owen Ackerman; and her sister, Mildred Carmen.
Friends may call at the EBERLE-FISHER FUNERAL HOME, 103 N. Main St., in London, from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23. Funeral services will be conducted there at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. Rev. Dr. Harley Roston will be officiating. Interment will follow in Somerford Township Cemetery. Eastern Star services will be held in the funeral home at 8 p.m. Friday.
