Thurman R. Snyder, 99, of Gahanna, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Traditions at Stygler Road, with his son at his side.
"Thurm" was a native of Lilly Chapel, Ohio, a 1931 graduate of London High School.
He retired as Vice President of National City Bank in London, Ohio in 1977.
He was a 60 year member of the Chandler Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar and Aladdin Temple Shrine.
While residing in London he was a Charter member and Past President of the London Jaycees, Past President of The London Chamber of Commerce, London Rotary Club
, London Shrine Club, London Sesquicentennial Association, London Easter Seals Society and served 8 years on London City Council.
He was a long time resident of Gahanna, Ohio, where he was active in Ascension Lutheran Church and the Gahanna Rotary Club.
Thurm is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Ida C. "Dutch" Snyder.
He is survived by their son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Snyder; grandchildren, Laura Snyder, Lisa Snyder, Michelle (Eric) Barber and Matthew (Lynn) Snyder; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Lauren, Sarah and Margaret Snyder; niece, Sally Jo (Kenneth) Coburn; nephews, Dennis, Kraig and Keith Quinn.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road (at Beecher Road), Gahanna, where the Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013. Pastor Ron Lokhorst will be officiating. Interment will be at Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield.
