I was thinking of CH Daniel yesterday and looked his name up online. I was shocked to find out he has passed on. I was a chaplain's assistant at Ft. Leonard Wood in 1999 when he spent his summer there as a student chaplain. I found out he was a Nazarene from OH (I am too) and that we knew some of the same folks. He and his family were gracious hosts to me for a visit while he was stationed at Ft. Huachucua in 2005. He was such a wonderful brother in Christ. Down to earth and real. I was blessed by his ministry and his friendship even though we only spent a few months together in total. Even though I smile whenever I think of him, my heart is heavy and my prayers go out to Cindy and the children.

We knew Scott as the husband of our friend, Cindy, and fellow Chaplain to my dear friend, Pat. He was a warm, loving, kind and funny man that everyone loved being around. He always made us feel welcome and at home when we visited, and his love for his family was palpable. Even after a year it's still hard to believe he's not here with us on earth, but we know he'll always be lovable Scott, praising the Lord he served so well, in His presence now instead of from afar! Though we only knew Scott for a few years and spent even less time with him in person, he had a lasting impact on us and will never be forgotten! Rejoice in His presence dear brother!!

I was just made aware of Chaplain Daniel's passing. I served with him during Operation Desert Storm (he was a member of my Fire Direction Center in D/1-5 Field Artillery). His maturity often kept the sanity at acceptable levels during that time and he always provided good console.

Scott is my best friend. I miss him daily. I have his photo and "We shared the same canteen" poem in front of my high school classroom. I pray for Cindy and family always. Surely God has some plan for Scott to take him now and leave us so empty. However, He is All knowing and merciful!!!

I am so very sad to read this. I worked in the Chaplaincy Services department at the Global Ministry Center, respectfully remembering Chaplain Daniel. May the peace of Christ cover you in this season of deep grief.

I was honored to serve with Chaplain Daniel when he was our Battalion Chaplain and I was a Drill Sergeant in the 309th MI Bn. He would visit "his Drills" every couple of days to see how we were doing spiritually and mentally - always with his big smile. He was a great man - humble and full of compassion. I learned a lot from him and over the years have often revisited our conversations and drawn strength from his advice. He will be missed by many.

I am honored to say I knew Scott. I had the pleasure of working with him at the 309th MI Bn. I regret hearing of his passing. To his family and close loved ones, I offer my heartfelt sympathy and my prayers. Scott not only professed himself to be a man of God, but showed it each and every day I knew him. He brightened every room he entered. This is another good man gone too soon. God bless you brother.

I served with Chaplain Daniel at Ft. Huachuca while I was a Drill Sergeant. Chaplain Daniel was always there for the Soldiers and cadre of 309th MI BN. He was a great American and superb representation of the power of faith. He will be sorely missed by the many he administered to over the years. Rest in Peace Scott. Your work lives on among us.

For our beloved "Scotty"-In my heart, you were the little brother, bringing humour and wisdom into all of our lives. You truly were the Lord's christian soldier, and you served Him and your country and your fellow man with dignity and compassion and faithfulness. Death cannot end love, it is stronger than the grave.
