Audrey Snyder, 96, of London, formerly of Grandview, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, 10:15 p.m. at the Arbors at London.
Audrey was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Madison County, the daughter of Emra Byron and Cora Anna (Johnston) Snyder.
She was an active member of King Avenue United Methodist Church in Grandview. She spent much time at the church working in the office and working with the various projects at the church and the ladies group. She had also volunteered at the Prevent Blindness center.
She worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Battelle Memorial Institute for many years. She even worked at Battelle after she retired from there.
Audrey loved gardening and flowers, traveling and photography. She came to a point when she loved to sketch flowers of all varieties. She loved to take walks in the nature areas and loved birds. She was an avid reader. She was the family historian, researching the family history to the Revolutionary War.
Audrey is survived by niece, Lynn Messenger; great-niece, Laura (Dan) Zuber; great-nephews, Todd (Shannon) Messenger and Chad (Natalie) Messenger; great-great-nieces and nephews, Madelyn Zuber, Noah Zuber, Hannah Messenger, Emily Messenger, Evan Messenger and Raymond Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Wilbur; sister, Esther Elizabeth; nephew, Roger Snyder; great-niece, Rochelle Snyder.
Her family invites friends to call at the RADER-LYNCH & DODDS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 124 E. High St., London, from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1, where a celebration of life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013. The Reverend John Keeny will be officiating. Friends will also be able to call at the funeral home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. The interment service will follow in the Johnston-McClimans Cemetery, Madison County.
