Charles Russell Ferguson, 67, of London, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Mount Carmel West Hospital, Columbus surrounded by family and friends.
Born to parents, Sanford and Jewel Kelley Ferguson on Nov. 11, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Willis, James, and Jay Ferguson; his brother-in-law, Delmus C. Castle; special nephew, Richard Lee Castle; and father-in-law, Charles F. Earles.
Charlie was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served 1966-1967.
He was a 1964 graduate of Madison South.
He was a machinist with Cooper Cameron, in Springfield, Ohio for 34 years.
Charlie loved the outdoors especially fishing and sharing produce he raised in his garden with family and friends.
He was a big fan of OSU football and basketball, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cincinnati Reds. But most of all he loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Charlie was affectionately called, "Candy Man" by the children of the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Sedalia, Ohio where he was an active member.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Esther Marie (Earles) Ferguson whom he married on March 3, 1973; his son, Christopher Scott Ferguson of Grove City, whom he was so proud of; sisters, Juanita (Robert) Castle-Ison, and Geneva (Robert) Fuller, all of London; brother, Kenneth (Lily) Ferguson of Columbus, Ohio; god-children, Kaylee Castle of London, and Justen (Brianne) Castle of Grove City; stepmother, Ellen Ferguson of London; sister-in-law, Myra Ferguson of London; mother-in-law, Lois Earles of London; brothers-in-law, Merle (Carolyn) Earles of London, Charles (Barb) Earles of Galloway; sisters-in-law, Melissa (Oliver) Jones of South Vienna, Elyta (Kelley) Manns of Mt. Sterling, Mary Purdie of Westerville, Electa (David) Lyons of Erie, Pennsylvania, Tami Earles of Mt. Sterling, Joy (Mark) Tyo of Dresden, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews and a great host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the RADER-LYNCH & DODDS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 124 E. High St., London, from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. A celebration of Charlie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 180 W. Center St., London, with visitation to be observed one hour prior to the time of service. Reverend Gordon Ell will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Kirkwood Cemetery, London, Ohio.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
Marie and Scott wish to thank the staff at Mount Carmel West Hospital, especially Dr. Vinay Chitkara, Dr. Patrick Wells, Dr. Roy St. John, and the nurses whom we lovingly referred to as "Charlie's Angels." We will never forget their tender loving care of Charlie during his long illness.
