Phyllis Jean Edwards Smith Bidlack, 74, of Milford Center, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Heartland of Marysville.
A school bus driver, she was employed by Fairbanks Local School district for 30 years, where she also served as the district's bus coordinator. During the later part of her career, she drove students with special needs for districts throughout the county and was honored for her many years of dedicated work.
She served on the Milford Center village council during the 1980s and 1990s.
She was a member of the Endeavor Circle of the International Order of Kings Daughters and Sons, where she served as the state recording secretary for four years. During her younger years, she served as an assistant for the Milford Center United Methodist Church. Above all, she was passionately devoted to her family and extended relatives, dedicated to her community and supportive of her circle of friends.
She was born April 7, 1939 in Madison County, to the late Robert Raymond and Hazel "Ruth" Gibson Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Bidlack; three sons, D. John (Cindy Patrick) Smith IV, Scott (Sandy) Smith and Anthony (Shelley) Smith, all of Milford Center; twin sisters, Sharon (Dominic) D'Acundo of Connecticut and Karen (Dan) Stillings of Milford Center; twin brothers, Raymond (Connie) Edwards of Westerville and Robert (Katie) Edwards of Toledo; eight grandchildren, Liza (Chris) Kise, Chris Smith, Paige (Erick) Primero, Connor, Halle, Jonathan, Devan and Lexi Smith; three great-grandchildren, Allison, Ethan, Macy Kise; stepchildren, Thomas Bidlack Jr., Lauri Bidlack, Tracy Welch, Todd Bidlack and Doug Bidlack; her former husband, D. John "Johnny" Smith III; and many nieces and nephews, including Casey, Amelia, Amanda, Amy, Ashley, Zack, Megan and Ashley; and other relatives.
Calling hours will be held from 2-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at UNDERWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 703 E. Fifth St., Marysville, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013. Rev. John M. Groat will officiate and interment will be at Union Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Phyllis Smith Bidlack Memorial Fund to be used for Milford Center community projects. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
