WEST JEFFERSON - McKinley Grant (Joe) Chaffin, 68, of West Jefferson, passed away suddenly in his residence Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
He was born Aug. 30, 1945 in Tripp, West Virginia, the son of the late Ulysses and Hessie Chaffin.
Joe retired as a railroad conductor after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 11. He loved umpiring baseball, but his true love in sports was bowling. He had bowled six 300 games and two 800 series.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean Chaffin whom he married Oct. 18, 1970; two sons, Joseph Grant Chaffin of Columbus and Mathue Allen (Sharon K.) Chaffin of West Jefferson; two grandchildren, Samantha and Aleksa Chaffin; seven siblings, Betty Marcum, Emma Jean French, Doris Borders, James A. Chaffin, Judy Rosquist, Jeff Chaffin and Melissa Maynard; numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and friends.
Friends may call from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, March 13, in the RADER-McDONALD FUNERAL HOME, 1355 W. Main St., West Jefferson, where Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2014, with Rev. Jerry Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
