WATERVILLE - Elizabeth W. Johnson, 92, of Waterville passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville. Her family was with her during the past three weeks.
She was born in Moscow on Aug. 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Frank and June (Williams) Whitney. Elizabeth graduated from Waterville High School and Katherine Gibbs School in Mass. On Oct. 9, 1949, she married Karl G. Johnson and the couple enjoyed 56 years together until his passing on April 15, 2006.
For many years she was employed as a medical secretary and as the assistant to the director at Thayer Hospital and Seton Hospital, retiring in 1987. Elizabeth was a member of Pleasant Street United Methodist Church in Waterville, and the Early Bird breakfast club in Oakland. She enjoyed traveling and card games with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, June J. Orpen and her husband, Robert of Seekonk, Mass.; her son, Karl G. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Becky of Austin, Texas; and her grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, and Matthew Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Street United Methodist Church, 61 Pleasant Street, Waterville on Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers, 107 Main Street, Fairfield.
