NORRIDGEWOCK - Joyce B. Wheeler, age 82, passed away on Dec. 5, 2014, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan, with her family by her side.
She was born in Benton on Jan. 26, 1932, the daughter of George L. and M. Marie (Harding) Buzzell. She was educated in Benton and Fairfield schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949. She was married to Willard Wheeler in 1955 and they raised four children together. After many years working in the shoe industry, she retired in 1994 from New Balance Athletic Shoe and made a home in Norridgewock with daughter, Kaylee. Joyce liked the coast of Maine and whatever went with it. She liked to watch old movies, sports and also enjoyed seeing her son, Tim, perform.
Joyce is survived by four children, Timothy, William, Kaylee, and Marc; 11 grandchildren, Sam, Sophie, Jamie, Bill, Tara, Kurt, Chauncy, Tigerlily, Marcius, Picabo and Gabriel; four great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Olivia, Lil Bill, and Liam; 3 daughters-in-law, Maura, Catherine, and Janet; special niece, Cheryl; brother-in-law, Esten; sister-in-law, Priscilla; and a friend Merle Lewis; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by ex-husband, Willard; four brothers, Glendon, Erwyn, Joseph, and George; two sisters, Leahbelle and Evelyn; and one grandson, Joseph.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gina Gomez, Dr. Erik and all the nursing staff, especially Angela and Leah, in ICU at Redington-Fairview General Hospital.
At Joyce's request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. A celebration of life will he held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
