David was born Dec. 7, 1941, to Dorothy (Hanley) and William Fortune in Newburyport, Mass., where he attended Immaculate Conception School and Newburyport High School, from which graduated in 1959. He served in the Navy SeaBees in Cuba. After his enlistment, he worked in the building trades and as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Wing) of Windsor; three daughters: Dawn Fortune of Surry, Felicia Fortune and Desiree Fortune, both of Windsor, and by a sister, Marin Fortune, of Newburyport.
Burial will be private, with no calling hours or services, per his request. He hated flowers, so donations may be made to the American Legion Department of Maine, P.O. Box 900, Waterville, ME 04903, earmarked "Veterans Aid."

Barbara and girls, I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. I always enjoyed his wit and knowledge. He was a character to be sure. If there is anything I can do for any of you remember I am just up the hill.
Warmest regards, Mary H.
