George Connor Obituary

AUGUSTA -- George Wayne Connor, 54, of Augusta died Thursday May 5, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, following a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Gardiner on Feb. 2, 1957, a son of Derrell and Joanne (Thebeau) Connor.

George was employed at KDT for 15 years until his illness. He was a handyman and jack of all trades. He could do it all and don't tell him otherwise. He also was a self-employed carpenter who could do most anything. He loved family get-togethers, Patriots' football games, his motorcycle and camping. He was active in the Eagles Club of Gardiner.

George was predeceased by his father, Derrell Connor; his daughter, Brandi Connor; his brother, Timmy Connor; and his father-in-law, Jim Golden.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Pamela M. (Golden) Connor, of Augusta; his mother, Joanne (Thebeau) Connor, of Gardiner; children Jeremy Connor of Augusta, Timothy Connor and companion Kelli of Augusta, Kenneth Connor and his fiancée, Kiley, of Fairfield, Scott Connor and companion Ashley Burton of Portland, Heather Sparrow and husband Jacob of Randolph, Paul Smith of Richmond and Eric Smith of Augusta; two brothers, Derrell M. Connor of Gardiner, and Carl Connor and companion Carol Breton of Buckfield; and his sister, Melanie Neptune, and husband Chris of Gardiner; three grandchildren, Brandi Connor, Noah Connor and Brendan Connor; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Staples Funeral Home, P.O. Box 598, Gardiner, to help with funeral expenses.
