Bernard Bolduc Obituary

WINSLOW -- We announce with a deep sorrow in our hearts, the loss of Bernard "Bern" G. Bolduc, 74, who went home peacefully with His Lord with his beloved wife and family at his side on May 8, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born Jan. 16, 1937, he was the son of Elucippe and Mildred (Vining) Bolduc. He attended parochial schools and graduated from Waterville High School in 1955. Bernard served proudly in the U.S. Army 16th Artillery at Fort Bragg, N.C. He also was on the rifle team and was honored Soldier of the Month. He served in the National Guard Reserve. He worked most of his adult life in paper mills.

He married Juliette "Judy" E. Douin May 7, 1960, and had one daughter, Debora A. Bolduc-Burke, and two lovely granddaughters, Amanda Marie and Ruth Ann Bolduc-Burke. His family meant everything to him. He was a good man, a good caring, loving husband, father and grandfather. He had a great sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a skilled rabbit hunter, took pride in the land and enjoyed working in his woodland garden. He enjoyed nature walks, especially with his dog "Rosy." He believed in exercising and keeping physically fit. His hobbies were reading, watching sports, cross country skiing and hunting. His departure will leave a deep void in our hearts, but his love and cherished memories will help fill in the empty spaces. He will always be fondly remembered for his deep caring and devotion to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, friend and soulmate of 51 years, Juliette "Judy" E. Bolduc; sister Patricia Hewins and husband Coral; sister-in-law Lucille Bolduc; two brothers-in-law, Roland "Joe" Douin and Paul Douin; two granddaughters, Amanda Marie and Ruth Ann Bolduc-Burke; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elucippe and Mildred Bolduc; brother James Bolduc; his loving daughter, Debora "Debbie" A. Bolduc, in 2006; and recently his dear mother-in-law, Adrienne B. Douin, whom he helped take care of most of his married life.

Bernard's wife wants to acknowledge the exceptional care of doctors, nurses and staff of MaineGeneral Medical Center and Maine Medical Center in Portland, along with the caring kindness that was shown to him, his wife and family that many times went beyond the call of duty.

Family and friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 12 at Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, May 13 at St. John the Baptist Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow.

I went searching and I found. I was a 2 week visitor of Bern, Judy, and Debbie when I was about 8 years old, I'm 53 now but I never forgot them. They were so kind & loving to me, a little black girl from inner city Boston. So sorry to learn of Debbie's passing. Thank you "Uncle" Bern for being so kind to me and may you Rest In Paradise.

Your courage and patience under affliction have always been a source of comfort to us and to all who know you. Dear Judy,I have known Bernard all my life as you well know. I too will miss him.We grew up together on Halde St. too. He was a fantastic friend and meant the world to me. We had many fond memories such as those days when we as little kids used square carboard pieces with slots to build castles at his house.Games like capture the flag, rubber band guns in the garages next to the Bretons. We enjoyed going to Verne Gagne's ice skating rink.
MY wife Pat and I have been praying that the Lord will bring peace to you and your family. I do beleive that only God knows exactly what to lay on our hearts to see us through this experience of losing a life long partner. May the peace of the Lord be with you not only today but for many more days and years to follow.
