DRESDEN -- Richard C. Rackliff, 80, died after a long illness on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
He was born in Rockland on Aug. 12, 1930, the son of Clarence and Lucy Rackliff.
Dick was a 40-year employee of Bath Iron Works, retiring in 1990. Dick was a longtime member of the Gardiner and Augusta Eagles Club.
He enjoyed playing pool, selling cars, van trips, and particularly spending time with his family and friends.
Dick was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie Rackliff, of Dresden; daughters Bonnie Delano and her husband, Dana, of Dresden, Louann Pontau and her husband, Robert, of Wiscasset, and Sonia Pearson and her husband, Timothy, of Wiscasset; son Richard Rackliff Jr. and his wife, Katie, of Wiscasset; sister Joan McCormick and her husband, Tom, of Florida; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
A memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at Kincer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Dresden.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond, ME 04357.

I am happy that I got to meet Richard many years ago when my father David Rackliff took us to meet more of the family. He will be missed by all of us and we now have another angel up in heaven watching over us. Maybe he will be lucky and be able to play some billards with God. (= You will be in my thoughts forever.

I am glad I got to speak with Richard on the phone just a couple of weeks ago. His passing will leave a space we can all fill with wonderful memories.

I always enjoyed my time with Dick.....talking cars or playing pool. He will be missed, but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayer are with his family.
