She was born on Feb. 26, 1959, in New York, N.Y., and adopted into the loving home of Loraine and the late Ralph C. Marden. Carol-Ann earned an associate's degree in library sciences from the University of Maine and was employed by the Winslow Public Library.
She was a member of Kennebec Valley Baptist Church where she served as chair of hospitality and was a member of the Prayer/Care/Share Knitting Ministry. She enjoyed music, homemaking, new recipes and spending time with friends and family at their camp on China Lake. Her favorite Bible verse was Joshua 1:9: "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee wherever thou goest."
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul, of 30 years; their son, Peter; her mother, Loraine Marden of Naples, Fla; her brother, Jeffrey Marden of South Portland; her in-laws, Frank and Sandra LaBrecque; many sisters- and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by their firstborn son, Paul Joseph "Joey," who died of cancer at the age of 4.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, Waterville, at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Winslow Public Library, 136 Halifax Street, Winslow, or to Lakeside Advent Christian Campground, c/o Vicki Davis, 11 Eaton Point Drive, Deer Isle, ME 04627.

Carol Ann was my friend. We shared many happy times like cooking class and my constant questions about where my knitting went wrong. We always depended on our "shared cupboards". We also shared some extremely sad and difficult times. Carol Ann loved angels and now she is Paul's and Peter's special angel looking over them forever. I will miss her.

Paul and Peter,
Carol-Ann taught us what grace and faithfulness is. No complaining and still sending out thank you cards
when she should have been the one receiving them. When she could have stayed home and no one would have questioned it she still attended church. What an example of faith-fulness to everyone! A great mother and friend! I am blessed to have known her.

Paul, son Peter, and family members of Carol-Ann, please know that our hearts are broken by her passing. She was an exemplary Christian woman; gentle in spirit and giving. When our daughter died three years ago, Carol-Ann helped us tremendously. She went out of her way to bring food to our house, visiting us with such an understanding spirit, and a phenomenal connection to the crushing and sudden loss of our daughter. Her encouraging words of comfort strengthened us and brought our friendship even closer. At our daughter's memorial service, (April 26th), Carol-Ann went about helping us; we were unaware that it was the anniversary of her son, Joey's death. She never let on. Such a humble and caring friend! Carol-Ann was a tremendous blessing to us. We will miss her so very, very much. Psalm 147 1:3-5

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Carol-Ann was such an important part of my children's lives. She always took the time to help them find just the right book and made them feel so special. We all looked forward to chatting with her during our library visits. She was a wonderful woman, and she will be greatly missed.

Carol-Ann's kindness to my son while he was in high school will never be forgotten. She didn't care why he had to do his community service - she just saw the good in my son. Now, eight years later, as I told my son of Carol's passing his first words were " Mom she was always so nice to me at the library".An act of kindness by Carol fondly remembered by a mother and her son.

Paul and Peter, What a wonderful woman of God Carol-Ann is. Her praying spirit, her compassionate heart, her willingness to love others and her many services for our Lord have set an example for many of us to follow. She now stands before her Savior and the angels rejoice with her. She is with Joey for all eternity and she has seen those who have gone before her, including Angela. We share your grief and look forward to the reunion in Heaven. May the Lord bless you and comfort you both at this time. We continue to pray for you.
In Christ's Love,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Carol was always ready to answer our library questions, chat with the kids or answer a knitting question. She will be sorely missed ~ although knowing she has an eternal home with our Lord Jesus Christ is a reason to rejoice. May God watch over and bless your family through this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife and mom. There are no words that say what my heart feels for you right now. Please know that God has promised to give you the "...oil of joy for mourning..." and as with oil it penetrates ALL but does so slowly with time.
