David was a caring and proud father, son and brother, always going above and beyond with his take-charge personality. He was well loved by everybody for his selflessness and genuine concern for others around him. He had a love and creativity for making that perfect dish to please his dinner guest to add to his collection of "napkin" recipes.
David is survived by his mother, Pauline R. Poulin, of Winslow; his five children, Andrew R. Poulin of Pensacola, Fla., Gregory M. Poulin of Norton, Mass., Steven C. Poulin of Dallas, Texas, Katherine Poulin of Annapolis, Md., and Brooks N. Poulin of Boxboro, Mass.; his brother, Daniel A. Poulin and wife Lori, of Vassalboro; and several nieces, nephews and a special great-niece.
He is predeceased by his father, Richard O. Poulin; and his grandparents, Napoleon and Alma (Gagne) Poulin and Albert and Edwina (Siviski) Ruel.
A memorial service at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winslow was held April 30 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in memory of David R. Poulin to the American Heart Association, 51 US Rt. 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
Additionally, visiting hours and a memorial service will be held in Massachusetts. The time and place has not been determined.
Arrangements are under the care of Brewitt Funeral Service, 14 Pine Street, Exeter, N.H.

David was a good man and a good team mate and recall playing for Old Gold RFC in the West Hartford 7's with him. I found out just last night at a benefit. RIP

To the Poulin family - I also worked with Dave and enjoyed hearing about and seeing the kids in those annual Christmas pictures. He talked about you almost as much as he talked about maple recipes. Other favorite stories include the annual polar bear plunge (I can't believe he did that) and chariot races. We recently hoisted a toast in Dave's memory at Joeys, his favorite restaurant in Syracuse. Please know that my memory of him remains as a loveable, big old furry bear who is and was immensely proud of his family.
Our sincerest condolences for your loss.

So sad to have to say goodbye to my friend, team-mate, fraternity brother and roommate from Trinity. Glad that our friendship has withstood the test of time and distance. I will miss our email wars and the joy and sheer nonsense of the occassional reunion. Rest in Peace, old friend.

Dear Poulin Family, Dave always told me how proud of you he was and what you all were doing. He was one of the best people I've worked with and for, I will miss his laughter and smile. This brings me to tears every time I think of him. He will be missed by many for ever.

To the Poulin Family,
I am so sorry for your loss - Though since high school I only saw Dave at high school reunions, I particularly enjoyed seeing him at our last reunion this past summer of 2010 - He was a very dear friend in high school, and I'm sure he formed many long lasting freiendships in college and through his career - I know he was a loving father - No doubt, to all the 1974 classmates, this one hurts - My thoughts are prayers are with his loved ones

Dear Poulin Family,
I had the privilege of working with Dave for many years at Mercury. I joined the MSC Europe Team in early 2002 - 2006. When I was in Chelmsford I had the plessure to spend some time in his office - his door and heart was open, a good listener, willing to share experience and his huge knowledge - smart, dedicated, ready to share a smile with his huge sense of humor. There is a home beyond the River - that is my believe and I will pray for him and his family during this sad and difficult time and beyond.

Dear Poulin Family. Though I grew up in North Vassalboro, I was a classmate of David's at Winslow High. I met him on my first day of school, as I wandered through the building, rather lost. He was walking by with friends and stopped to ask my name, and if he could help me. He not only brought me to my classroom door, but took the time to look at my schedule, and tell me where each class was. I was a loner, and he would always take time to say hi and make small talk. He also helped me open my school locker, on at least 3 occasions making us both late for class. He was in a few of my classes, and it was a joy to watch him interact with the other students. He made a scared, skinny teenager feel welcome, with his observance of those in need, his caring enough to take the time to stop and help them, and his kindness, passion and love of life, his classmates , and football. He left his mark on me, and I'm sure thousands of others in his lifetime. He will be sorely missed. You are all in my prayers.

To the Poulin Family,
Words cannot express the sorrow that I feel for all of you. I remember watching David play football at Winslow High. How proud his grandparents (Ray and Edwina Ruel) were of him. David was a very considerate and compassionate young man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
God Bless,

To the Poulin family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was truly one of my closest friends at Trinity. He was a kind, sensitive, and humorous man who was able to help me through some difficult moments during our college years. Since college, we exchanged family photos and e-mails from time to time. I know that Dave was very proud of his family. I regret that I cannot attend his memorial service, but he will always be remembered as a great man.

It was a shock to hear about Dave's passing. My condolences for the family's loss and for the loss that his friends will feel.
I worked with Dave fior 7 years during a time of great success in his career. He cared for the people who worked for him and had a passion and gusto in whatever he did..
I will remember most his creativity, playful needles and practical jokes. Cheers, Dave, and fair winds.

Dear Pauline & family,
We are so sorry to hear your sad news. We cannot imagine how you are feeling right now. He will live in your hearts forever, but you will miss him so much. We can't help but think that Joe is so happy to see his boy again. We had great times at camp & many happy Christmas Eves spent together. Fun times as kids. We just always remember David being so "nice." Thats a great way to be remembered. We will keep you in our thoughts & prayers.

No one in the world ever made me laugh so hard and with such abandon as Dave. He always knew the right thing to say when I was mad or sad to help put the situation in perspective. And he absolutely loved to play practical jokes on me because I'm so gullible and it gave him great delight. He shared his ‘guffa' hat with me and tried to turn my Texas accent into ‘up East' with hilarious results. He was a wonderful and caring friend. I love him and will miss him terribly.

I am sad today for the Poulin family. I had the honor to camp in the north Maine woods on a canoe trip 35+ years ago with the Poulins and the Fortin families from Winslow. Dave was a rising high school football star and a few year ahead of me. I was alway impressed with his athletic ability and happy personality. He was warm and caring even as a young man. All my best during this difficult time. John Ayoob

I met Dave, my husband's college suite mate, on the day my husband proposed to me, just over 30 years ago. His glow was always present--I will never forget the twinkle in his eye, the deep voice saying my name with such lilt. He was a great great man and friend. I am sorry I cannot attend the service with Jeff, but we couldn't find farm coverage. My heart goes out to Dave' family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with you David as you meet our Lord in heaven. You will always be one of my fondest memories.
